Fifth Third Bank employees test positive

Fifth Third Bank confirmed Friday that it has “employees” that have tested positive for the new coronavirus and asked coworkers of the afflicted workers to self-quarantine.

The bank declined to say whether the employees are in the Greater Cincinnati region or elsewhere in their 10-state footprint, which includes 1,150 branches from Michigan to Florida.

“We have had employees of Fifth Third Bank who have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) – They are receiving medical care and we wish them a speedy recovery,” said spokeswoman Laura Trujillo. “Our first priority is to keep our employees safe. We have notified other employees who may have had contact with their co-worker and have asked them to self-quarantine.”

“We will continue to be vigilant to safeguard our employees and customers,” Trujillo said. “We have adjusted our banking experience and workplaces to accommodate the health and safety needs of our employees, customers and communities, and we will continue to navigate this together.”
