Peeps maker halts production, but don’t fret about Easter

The company behind sweet treats Peeps and Mike and Ike say it’s suspending production because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement posted on its website, Just Born Quality Confections said it is temporarily halting production at its facilities in Pennsylvania starting March 25 through at least April 7.

Just Born said that while most of their employees were working remotely since March 18, all workers will be required to work from home at least through April 7.

“We will take this opportunity to further clean and sanitize our production facilities, offices and corporate headquarters,” reads an excerpt of their statement.

The closures will not impact Peeps for this Easter. Just Born says all of its Peeps “have been produced and shipped to retailers for this upcoming Easter season.”
