Houseparty offering $1M reward to combat hacking charge; how to delete

The Internet was abuzz Tuesday with people looking for ways to delete one of the most popular apps in circulation, the Houseparty video chat app.

The tools to get rid of your account are hidden (don’t worry, we’ll show you how to do it), and the reason people are looking for ways to shed the app is over privacy and hacking concerns, a charge Houseparty is disputing.

First off, Houseparty says all accounts are safe. “The service is secure, has never been compromised, and doesn’t collect passwords for other sites.”

However, it adds that it’s “investigating indications that the recent hacking rumors were spread by a paid commercial smear campaign to harm Houseparty,” the app announced on Twitter. Houseparty, which is owned by Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, is offering a $1-million reward “to the first individual to provide proof of such a campaign.”
