Colgate-Palmolive is partnering with the World Health Organization to make and donate 25 million soap bars to several agencies in the U.S. as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread.
The company is also donating $20 million in health and hygiene products to local nonprofit organizations.
“Colgate’s very purpose is to advance the health and wellness of people and their pets,” says Colgate president Noel Wallace in a statement. “We recognize we have a profound responsibility, now more than ever, to help protect people.”
Colgate will use five of its manufacturing plants to produce the soaps as part of the #SafeHands effort.
Besides, Colgate and Palmolive, the company also manufactures Speed Stick, Softsoap, Irish Spring, Protex, Ajax, Axion, Fabuloso, Soupline, Suavitel, and others.

Colgate is also beginning a matching gift campaign for its 34,000 employees. The company will match $1 million in employee donations and contribute to groups such as the World Health Organization, Save the Children, CARE and others.
Other companies such as Twitter have pledged to donate millions of dollars to help fund coronavirus relief efforts. Meanwhile, Home Depot said it has halted all sales of N95 masks at its stores and website and “redirected” them to be donated to hospitals, health care workers and first responders treating patients during the coronavirus pandemic.
