As millions of people continue to stay home to contain the spread of COVID-19, there’s been a surge in demand for home items, office supplies, cleaning products, and more, as many online shop for essentials they need to social distance and self-quarantine effectively.

While retailers are running low on inventory and many basics are selling out both online and at big-box stores, you can still find plenty of useful home items and supplies in stock at Staples and Office Depot, as shoppers tend to gravitate to larger retail giants to stock up. To help you find what you need, we scanned through both office supply stores’ sites to find all the best household essentials and office supplies that you can add to your cart right now.

1. Disinfectant spray and cleaning wipes

Both disinfecting spray and wipes can help clean the surfaces of your home and kill harmful bacteria and viruses, including the coronavirus, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While these household cleaners have been flying off the shelves, you can still find in-stock options at both Office Depot and Staples.

2. Paper towels

In order to properly clean your home with disinfectant spray, you’re also going to want some paper towels lying around, per the CDC recommendations. Rather than a reusable rag or cloth, you can throw them away after wiping away any harmful bacteria. If you haven’t been able to nab any at your local stores, both office suppliers have them in stock.

3. Keurig and K-cups

Even though running out to Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts for your morning coffee is no longer an option these days, you can still make a delicious cup of coffee right from your kitchen, with the right machine, of course. The Keurig K-Cafe was our “most versatile” pick when we tested the best single-serve pod coffee machines on the market for its hands-free design, intuitive control panel, and handy milk frother. It’s available at Office Depot right now, along with plenty of K-Cups to tide you over at home.

4.  Garbage bags

Households are bound to accumulate more garbage while quarantining, so it’ll be useful to have some spare garbage bags on hand in case you run out. They’ll also come in handy for any spring cleaning, downsizing, or donating you plan on doing while at home. Some of the best trash bags we’ve tested include the Glad ForceFlex Plus, which you can find at both Staples and Office Depot.

5. Wireless router

If everyone in your home is working remotely or doing online courses, you may experience slower load times and poorer video equality if your WiFi router can’t keep up. In that case, you could consider upgrading it to one of the best WiFi routers on the market. For instance, we voted the Asus RT-AC3200 as our “most advanced” pick, and with its tri-band setup, it’s ideal for multi-device households, and provided high-speed connectivity even from long-range locations in our testing.

6. Hand soap and sanitizer

The CDC recommends a) washing your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, or b) using a hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol content, to help lower your risk of infection from coronavirus. While both hand sanitizer and hand soap have been flying off the shelves, plenty of options are available from the office supply chains.

7. Label maker

Since many of us are trying to finds things to do at home to occupy our time, there’s certainly some fun to be had with a label maker. You can label and organize all your storage spaces and containers with the best-selling Brother label maker, which features 14 different fonts, 600 symbols, and 95 frames so you can really go wild with your labels.

8. Printer and ink cartridges

While you may be used to satisfying all your printing needs at your office or at your local FedEx, it’s best to stay at home instead at the moment and rely on your printer to do the job. If yours leaves something to be desired, our favorite multifunction printer, the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4740, is certainly a worthy upgrade, as we loved its high-quality printing of documents and photos, as well as its easy ink installation process and scan-to-cloud functions. While you’re at it, you can also stock up on ink cartridges, so you don’t run out until all this blows over.

9. Pens, paper, and other office supplies

While we’re all getting used to working from home, one of the more annoying aspects is not having all the supplies you normally would at your office, like Post-its, gel pens, notepads, and all that good stuff. If you want to make your home office feel a little more like your desk at work, Staples and Office Depot are here to help you can stock up on all the office supplies you’re missing.

10. Paper shredder

If there was any a time to get rid of all those miscellaneous papers, bills, and other documents that clutter your home, it’s now. But if you’re throwing away things like bank statements and medical bills, you should do so safely with a paper shredder, so you can be sure your personal information stays secure. Our favorite paper shredder is made by Staples, and can handle 12 sheets of paper at once along with staples, paper clips, and credit cards. It landed the top spot for its shredding capacity, simple interface, lack of jamming, and safety features. If you’re looking to take this spare time to declutter the house, it could be a useful investment.
