Is your Macy’s store on the chopping block?

USA TODAY has pinpointed the locations of the first stores that will close in the coming weeks, which are part of a larger cost-cutting plan that includes shuttering around 125 stores over three years

The liquidation or going-out-of-business sales have already begun at approximately 30 underperforming Macy’s stores located in “low-tier malls,” Macy’s CEO Jeff Gennette said Wednesday during the retailer’s Investors Day.

The stores in the first round of closures were first announced in January and are from 19 states from California to Florida and as far west as Hawaii. One Bloomingdale’s store in Florida also is closing.

“We are making deep cuts that impact every area of our business,” Gennette said Wednesday. “These changes are painful but they are necessary.”
