If the Paperwhite isn’t quite your jam, the base-model Kindle is also a real crowd-pleaser. It comes with just four adjustable LED lights—so it’s not as bright as the Paperwhite—but that slightly diminished illumination shouldn’t be a dealbreaker if you’re looking for a straightforward, easy-to-use, and affordable unit. It only comes with a 4GB capacity, but that’s still enough space to store hundreds, and potentially even thousands of ebooks. It usually costs $110, but for today, you can pick it up for $35 off its standard price.
