All 37 Westfield malls across the United States, including World Trade Center, Garden State Plaza and Century City locations, will be shut down for all but “essential” retail outlets due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The centers, in states from California and Connecticut to New York, New Jersey and Florida, will be closed March 19 through March 29, according to a statement by its parent company Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.
The 10-day closure will remain unless otherwise instructed by the local authorities, read the statement.

“We have not made this decision lightly, and believe this is in the best interest of protecting our various stakeholders,” says Jean-Marie Tritant, U.S. President of URW. “We look forward to reopening these centers in the very near future. In the meantime, we are doing everything possible to make sure that ‘essential’ retail outlets remain accessible.”
This comes a day after governors from Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania issued orders to close malls in their states.
